Connecting devices

A Cat5e UTP cable can connect a PC to a router or modem, or network computers in a home or office. It can also be used to connect interactive kiosks to the internet in retail settings.

Supporting networks

Cat5e UTP cables support Ethernet (wired internet) networks, including 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), and 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet). They can perform at speeds of up to 100 MHz.

Other uses

Cat5e UTP cables can also be used for home gaming setups to connect a console, PC, or laptop directly to a router.

Cat5e UTP cables are made of multiple twisted pairs, each consisting of two wires twisted together to form a single strand. They usually have eight strands of different colors and are terminated with an STP or UTP RJ45 connector on each end.
